Serbia claims Macedonia's intelligence services have been spying on its diplomats, but also on diplomacy chief Ivica Dacic. The Serbian daily Blic writes that foreign powers are involved in the surveillance mission.
Serbian diplomacy chief Ivica Dacic has said he does not personally mind the wiretapping, as what he speaks on the phone even publicly. He even confirmed that there have been intelligence actions before, but that there have recently been orders for these actions to be strengthened.
Dacic has told the media that Serbia has taken nothing against Macedonia, not even in periods where there were protests every day in the latter. He has said Serbia's decision to withdraw personnel from the embassy is a message to show Skopje that we know everything they've agreed on, which says it doesn't become friends.
Dacic today once again threatened not to recognise Macedonia's constitutional name if the country supports Kosovo membership in U NESTO.
“I can tell you that we know everything, we know what decision they made, what they work and what they will work on. They need to understand that we know everything. Serbia wants to calm the new situation created with Macedonia, which is not based on assumptions, but on uncontested facts that speak of strengthened anti-Serbia offensive -- said Ivica Dacic, Serbia's Foreign Minister”.
To discuss recent developments between the two countries, Serbian President Vucic is expected tomorrow to conduct telephone conversations with Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, while a telephone conversation will also take place by the two foreign ministers Dacic and Dimitrov, AlsatM broadcast.
Commenting on the created situation, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani said it is still early to talk about the W. NESTO.
We are in contact with the Republic of Kosovo. They informed us they didn't apply for U n NESTO. We will wait and at the moment when we will have a request from the Republic of Kosovo for support, of course we will have a” stance, Bujar Osmani, deputy prime minister for European Affairs, said.
Reports between the two countries tense two years ago when Macedonia had supported Kosovo's membership in U NESCO, to proceed later with the involvement of a Serbian agent in violent protests in the Assembly 27 April. As a month ago during a speech in Athens, Serbian diplomacy chief Dacic said Belgrade made a mistake to recognise Macedonia by its constitutional name.
