Legal miners from the Balkans are welcome, she said.
In an interview with the German public television channel ZDF Chancellor Merkel also voiced her policy on refugees. Not only is CSU's sister party, CSU, requiring the deployment of maximum quotas for refugee admission. CDU politicians, such as Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, are also looking for this, which has been expressed for an orchestra of refugees towards Germany.
Chancellor Merkel reiterated her “formula we can manage” and said maximum borders cannot be determined unilaterally. But she stressed that in terms of refugees from Africa, it follows the idea of reducing the number of illegal refugees and determining legal contingents as in the case of Western Balkan countries.
Regarding the Western Balkan countries, Chancellor Merkel said, if any of these countries have no job offers from Germany, he could come and work here. She said she disagrees with the idea of visa restrictions to work in Germany for three or five years. So according to the Chancellor, if anyone can continue the work contract, if someone studies in Germany and finds a job, he or she should have the right to stay in Germany. And whoever gets a permanent job in Germany should get permanent permission to stay in Germany.
Land Minister Sachsen-Anhalt Prime Minister Reiner Hasseloff (CDU) and Bariland Finance Minister Markus Söder (CSU) reiterated in several German media interviews requirements for determining quotas for refugees and immigrants. Söder told the newspaper „Münchner Merkur” that Germany may be able to integrate 200,000 to 300,000 immigrants per year and that if they come more, integration will not be possible.
And Hasseloff told the newspaper „Bild”: “We need to make very quick what things we are able to do and which are our borders and put behind this maximum quota for all of Germany.” Referring to Chancellor Merkel's statement that the right to asylum knows no maximum limits, he said this is probably possible „maybe in theory, but in practice no.”. /dw/.
