With 250 displaced members passing through Canada from the United States every day, Canadian soldiers will help build a temporary camp for 500 asylum seekers crossing the far-road border of Roxham north of New York State and South Quebek.
Border Services agencies in the country will not be included in security operations.
Soldiers will install lighting and heating equipment.
Canadian police have already set up a reception centre in the Kebek community of Saint-Bernard-de-Lacalle, about 50 kilometers south of Montreal, which is 300 kilometers above the border north of New York.
Despite the apparent goodwill effort, the Ministry of Migration has published a post on a Facebook social network decontaining unauthorized crossings and trying to end rumours that Canada has invited displaced people to seek refuge, the “Deutsche Welle” reported, broadcast Periscopi.
About 50,000 Haitians had sought refuge in the United States after a massive earthquake struck the state of Haiti in 2010. Many now face deportation.
