The anti-Basa group wants the extraordinary meeting of the National Council for Changes in the DP, following the deep loss of June 25th, but new elections will be held only in September of next year. The only one to complete his term was that of President Lulzim Basha, who was again reconfirmed in the post on July 22nd 2017. Assembly The DP ran works 4 years ago, where membership of the National Council on September 27th 2014 chose the new leadership forums, the two vice-presidents, secretary-general and the new PD secretariat. Based on the party statute, their four-year mandate ends in September of next year. Therefore, according to current DP leaders, there can be no choice outside what the DP's founding document, its statute, predicts.
But anti - grouping Bassa has proposed a new draft, according to them, for the democratisation of the PD. A few days ago this grouping suggested it would continue for a serious and constructive effort inside DP for internal democratisation of the party, for restoring to the fundamental values of this party, for its ideological consolidation, to give hope for PD and the place. Also reportedly, members of the National Council and the DP's chairmanship, and members of the DP in all its branches throughout Albania are obliged to unanimously make the decision to continue the movement for unity and democratisation of the Democratic Party from within its ranks. The declaration also called for analysis of the loss of elections and votes on June 25th.
