Number of Albanians on the rise, Macedonians, Serbs are decreasing

In the past thirteen years, the natural growth of Macedonians, Serbs and Vlachs is negative, as far as Albanians, Turks, Roma and Bosniaks are constantly on the rise, claims Donco Gerasimovski, demographic analyst and former director of Macedonia's State Statistics Ent.

“More than ten years of natural growth among Macedonians, Serbs and Vlachs is negative. The Christian population is reducing to some 3,500 per year. In contrast, Muslim-based populations, or Albanians, Turks, Roma, and Bosniaks, are growing annually for 6,500 people. Such is the situation from 2004 to 2014. According to his data, out of a total of 80 municipalities in 76 have Albanian population phenomena, while in four there are no. And everywhere the Albanian population has natural growth is positive.

There are negative natural growths in three regions, while in four, there are reductions between 2002. The Vardar region, which has 9 municipalities, is characteristic, while in 7 municipalities there are population reductions. There are 11 municipalities in the eastern region, while in 10 municipalities there are reductions. Exception is just home. There's no shortage. In the other 10 municipalities, there is a reduction in the number of students in all. In this region it is characteristic that most leave for seasonal work during the summer period in Italy. Such is the case with young people from “Makedonska Kamenica”. The trend of reducing Christians is not just for us, but so is the situation in the rich European countries, which means, the standard of residents is not cause for <x0).

Two years ago, the international statistical institute “Pew” came up with predictions that in 2050, Christians in Macedonia will become minorities, while Islam will be the highest religion. According to “Pew”, which deals with nighttime research, demographics and legislations, reduced the number of Christians will be worldwide, this institute predicts that by 2050, in 175 countries worldwide, the number of Christians and Muslims will equal.

In Macedonia already 15 years no census has been made, and it is not clear as the “Pju” institute has come to the data that in 2010 the percentage of Muslims has been 39 percent. According to the forecasts of this institute, for 30 years that percentage will rise to 56, with which Islam will be the largest religion in Macedonia.

Once, in the next three decades, the total number of residents in Macedonia will drop by 2 million and 60 thousand to only 2 million and 650 thousand. In Macedonia, there will be 500,000 less Christians because the population decline will be in the 1.2 million Christians, with fewer than 700 thousand Christians throughout the country. The number of Muslims due to the high nightliness will rise from 809 thousand to 927 thousand Muslims in Macedonia.

But considering the suspicious number of registered Muslims, 39 percent in 2010, research should be done in reserve, even though no one disputes the decline in nighthood among Christians.

I'm worried about the ongoing trend of reducing the number of residents in many municipalities in the eastern part of the country as opposed to dozens of municipalities in the western and northwestern parts of the country. The highest - night municipalities are Tetovo, Cairi, Sarai, Cumanova, and Studnikani, as far as the monastery, Karposhi, Prilep, Veles, Kocani, and Ohrid are at its smallest level.

In 2013, for the time since Macedonia exists, the number of newly born ethnic Macedonians was below 50 percent of the total number of children born in the country. Thus, in 2012, Macedonians in the number of newborns attended with 52.7 percent, while in 2013 49.9 percent.

Experts warn that the demographic problems Macedonia is facing are serious and that confrontation with low night, especially among Christian populations, while in that context, even with reduced natural serious growth, requires complex approaches, AIM reports.

Otherwise, according to the 2002 census, in the general population, Macedonians are 64.2 percent, Albanians 25.2 percent, Turks 3.9, Roma 2.7, Serbs 1.8, Vlachs 0.5, Bosniaks 0.5. On the other hand, this means that from 1948 to 2002, the number of Albanians has increased by about 10 percent.
