Kosovo's Special Prosecutor claims that the Albanian from Sopia of Suhareka in co-operation with Serbian forces committed crimes in this village exactly in the Elshani family while taking part in the deportation of Albanian villagers from Sopia.
Callo. com has found that the war crimes suspect had visited the site several times allegedly committed the crime. Kallxo has secured the statement Sahitaj has issued before the court of the preliminary procedure. Sahitaj has only declared innocence there has shown that several times since the postwar had visited the village and had not been persecuted by anyone.
I have my brothers in the village, and whenever I come from Germany I visit”, Sahiaj said before the judge. He has indicated that one day before his arrest he had stayed in his village.
The Special Prosecutor claims that during wartime in Kosovo, in April 1999, suspect Agim Sahiti, informed and armed, has acted together with members of Serb forces where they killed, wounded, tortured, looted and forcibly expelled from their homes in the direction of Albania the Albanian civilian population.
Special Prosecutor Sylla Hoxha during reading the request on the appointment of the detention measure has stated that the suspect in co-ordination has committed crimes against Albanian civilians.
“During 1999, on April two, Agim Sahitaj along with members of Serbian forces have entered a house in the village of Sopi in Suhareka, where he also wounded in the right leg S.E., while killing the A.K. site, then the suspect has shot towards A.E., but unfortunately he didn't shoot”, said case procuro Sy Hoxha.
The prosecutor during his statement also shows how the same day the suspect Agim Sahitaj has tortured, robbed and expelled Albanian civilians from their village.
Also on the critical day of the same co-ordination with other persons has taken part in looting, beating, torturing and that on the same day in the village of Sopi 38 Albanian civilians without uniforms have been killed. Just as evidenced by the subject paperwork is seen, the suspect with fellow rulers has expelled Sopi village villagers from Albania's” claims the prosecution.
The subject's file does not explain why 16 years after the war the prosecution had taken no action to investigate these suspicious acts since one of the main reasons for the detention assignment is the risk of the suspect leaving the country.
Sahitiaj was arrested last week on Special Prosecutor's orders while staying in custody for 30 days unless there is another verdict.
