Albanian diaspora urges representation in Parliament

On Diaspora Day, August 2, 2017, the non-governmental organisation Germin organised the round table with the theme: The advantage of the Diaspora Role, Challenges and Options, which gathered representatives of the Albanian diaspora, the acting minister of the Diaspora Ministry Valon Murati and civil society. During this table, the Albanian diaspora [...] was discussed as advancing and roled.
During this table, the Albanian diaspora's advance and role was discussed in terms of their political and socioeconomic rights and how the mechanisms for empowering the diaspora's role in developing the mother countries can be developed. Within this table, Germin also introduced the work done so far under the initiative for Structural Dialogue on Diaspora Rights.
During the co-operation, participants suggested that the challenges that are hindering the diaspora from being an active part of policymaking and socioeconomic processes, including the diaspora's non-representation in the Kosovo Assembly, bureaucratic voting exploitation procedures, collecting exiles at the country's borders, the social security agreement between Kosovo and Switzerland, supplementary teaching in Albanian and lack of qualified teachers.
