Albanians are increasingly choosing to spend summer holidays abroad.

For July alone, there were 496 thousand citizens who have left the country's territory - an 11 per cent increase compared to the same month a year ago.

The increase coincides with positive change even in annual terms, where the exits of Albanian citizens have increased by 4.9 percent.

Increased holiday destinations have been Italy and other accessable countries on air and sea roads, which are often offered in tourist packages: countries like Turkey, Egypt, and so on.

Thanks to the addition of a number of cheap lines, the number of Albanians flying abroad has been around 127 thousand, a significant increase of 35.7 percent compared to last July. Currently, the number of airline exits marks an annual increase for the January-July period to 27.6 percent, with about 150 thousand passengers more than a year ago, writes “Scan”

Also, a 34.2 percent increase is the number of citizens who have moved by boat or ferry. That number reached 88 thousand passengers.

However, land roads remain the preferred mode of travel, largely due to visits to neighbouring countries like Kosovo, Greece, Macedonia and Montenegro. This category has seen minimal growth of 2.2 percent.
