A memorial consisting of tiles on a road segment was completed during a day by victims' families, Niica residents, and tourists.
The 170m-long message includes the motto of France “Lieberte, Egaite, Fraternite”.
The victims' family launched 86 balloons, as many as were the victims of the attack, while Nica residents launched 300.
The road in which the tragedy took place was crowded with people - mostly tourists - a year after a truck driver entered through the crowd enjoying the fireworks show on Bastija Day.
Instead of fireworks, 86 laser lights, from one for each victim, radiated from the mall, lighting the city. Meanwhile, a spectacular show of fireworks over the Eiffel Tower wrapped up celebrations for Bastija Day.
