Turkish police arrested eight human rights activists, including the director for Turkey of Amnesty International organisation, Idil Eser.
The raid was held at a digital security seminar organised by Amnesty International on Buyukada Island, near Istanbul.
Two trainers from Germany and Sweden were also arrested.
“The police station was without cause”, the Amnesty International organisation said through a statement.
The operation of police is abuse of power and highlights the uncertain situation facing human rights activists in this country”, said Salil Shetty, general secretary of Amnesty International.
“Idil Eseri and those who carry on it must be released immediately and unconditionally”, he added.
Turkey remains in a state of emergency since the coup effort in July last year.
Police there have arrested over 50,000 activists and civil servants under suspicion of having links with religious cleric Fetullah Gulen.
Ankara says Gulen has orchestrated the failed stamp, but the clergyman denies involvement.
