“Thaci's winning favor for PAN”

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has invited political parties to a consultative meeting to set the date of the Parliament's binding.

President Hashim Thaci's invitation is considered delayed by political analyst Petrit Zogaj. In a talk about Online Economy, Zogaj has said the president is trying to favour the coalition. PAN in order to secure enough votes for forming the government.

At the meeting invited for Monday, the trip has confirmed the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Initiative for Kosovo; as long as the Democratic League of Kosovo, with its partner AKR, and Vetevendosje are expected to boycott this meeting “unnecessary”.

Organisation Director “FOL” has said President Hashim Thaci is calculated to be convinced that PAN and their candidate, Ramush Haradinaj, has the necessary support in the Kosovo Assembly to create Government.

“In public opinion is clearly seen as Mr Thaci favouring that the government be created by Haradinaj and by the coalition of parties that have emerged with mostly deputies in the Kosovo Assembly. This call after more than 10 days of dating results is late. So if Mr Thaci had this logic of functioning, he would have thought that from the start he would call political parties to consult so that we can have a settlement date. This is seen as a kind of opportunity for Haradinaj to secure the votes needed to vote in the Assembly”, Zogaj has said.

He has said the president had to keep his role in the constitution clear following the 2014 Constitutional Court decision.

Zogaj has added further than if the coalition PAN fails to form the government, Thaci will necessarily have to grant the mandate to the second coalition.

I don't believe that after 10 years, we're in the situation where we can play these kind of little party games, and I really believe that the president of the country has a clear disrepute for the second term. It is clear that if you prove to the president that the LDK with the coalition and the VV also has 61 deputies within the grand coalition, I believe Thaci would have no choice but to give the second coalition mandate”, he added.

Zogaj has also commented on President Thaci's role during the election period. He said after 16 years participating in elections as leader of The PDK, the president has found it difficult to distance itself from the election campaign, adding that its actions during the elections leave the taste of a parallel campaign.
