“Apocalypse” is the most appropriate word to describe the situation burdened by mass fires along France's Mediterranean coast.
The flames have created an emergency situation and are burning over 3 thousand hectares of forest along the southeast coastal area, but also on the island of Corsica.
Fires have also included inhabited areas, but fortunately no victims, as authorities had on time taken all measures to evacuate them.
The situation is so severe that it is not enough for 2,000 firemen and 19 air vehicles to bring the flames under control. French authorities have also sought help from neighbouring European countries.
The flames have spread rapidly since Monday evening when the first hearths were located. Volunteers are also helping to extinguish fires, mainly residents of areas affected by fires. Also at risk is the popular tourist area Saint Tropez.
