That is Serbia's greatest fear facing Kosovo

Serbia's Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, in an article for the biggest newspaper in Belgrade, “Blic”, writes, that Kosovo has already been an independent state known of 110 states for more than nine years. The DPA quotes from Blic article: Many medieval Serb monasteries and battlefields exist in Kosovo, so Belgrade so far wanted this region back. In northern Kosovo, a compact Serb minority lives. According to previous ideas about partitioning Kosovo's north could join Serbia. But in such a case, the Albanian side issues about 100,000 Albanians in southern Serbia, who can join Kosovo. Serbian historical manuals in Kosovo on W list NESTO as the legacy of world culture, in the event of division a special autonomy status can be granted, Dacic has proposed again.
A week ago in an authorial text to the newspaper “Blic”, Vucic wrote that an internal dialogue for Kosovo should be launched in Serbia and that Serbia should be realistic in terms of developments in Kosovo, rather than putting its head on as the ostrich.
Vuciq thinks that “Kosovo is essentially our most serious problem, so it is necessary, as never before, that we all find an answer together. A response that will be stable, excluding conflict as an option, a response that would bring benefits to everyone in the region”.
Analysts on Vucic's appeal
Dusan Janjic, co-ordinator of the Forum for Ethnic Reporting, tells DW that he is not optimistic that this dialogue will result successfully: “Wuchiqi does not actually have a clear idea of what to talk about. But in advance he has called all who oppose this dialogue a failure. A text and such a tone, as well as its arrogance, are not a good start and create resistance to this dialogue. ”
Janiq thinks these texts present some kind of manipulation with dialogue, according to motto “I have asked you, you are silenced and you are not responding. That's why I've decided myself, and the responsibilities will divide the entire”.
The situation in the Balkans is changing rapidly, Dusan Prorokovic told DW from the Centre for Strategic Alternatives. Montenegro has entered NATO, while Macedonia has renewed membership efforts.
“In this context I also see the latest initiative to resolve the Kosovo issue. Now you want to speed up the process and get as fast a conclusion of the process as well as the introduction of Kosovo into the United Nations possibly next year”, he thinks.
Prorokovic claims that this internal dialogue aims at legitimising the whole process.
“We will develop a supposedly dialogue which will ultimately result in recognition of reality, which means Kosovo will become a member of the UN without formal recognition from Serbia. This is the model of two Germanys, which has been talking about since 2008 and meaning the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, which should have reports like formerly East Berlin and Bonn. ”
Dusan Prorokovic says that in the opinion this will be presented as a middle solution: “We have not recognised Pristina, we will not establish diplomatic reports, but Kosovo will legitimise member status in the UN, because this is reality”.
„I think things are going in this direction”, says D's co- talker, but according to him, „will not finally solve the Kosovo issue, because Serbia will face very serious problems”.
Kosovo's „UN membership would damage Serbia's position on long track. After that, the quick membership of Kosovo in NATO could be expected, meaning it would change Serbia's position, which would probably also force itself to become a NATO member”, Prorokovic claims.
„I think that the Kosovo indictment against Serbia for genocide can then be expected very quickly and too quickly for major problems about the demarcation of the border, which Serbia would put into very big and trying problems. So I think the dogma that Kosovo's recognition will solve problems is very dangerous and wrong”, he claims. / DW/
