I believe that the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has made a wise decision and assessment of citizenship that “the most expensive Serbian word” and “the most expensive Serbian issue” cannot solve only one head, even the wiser one.
So said “Tanjugun”, Serbian historian and vice president of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Predrag Markovic, regarding the Serbian president's call for a broad social dialogue on the Kosovo issue.
Vuciqi's call, Markoviqi sees as his desire to gather all the minds and political forces of the Serbian people, since, as he says, the Kosovo issue is unique in Europe because no other state has such problems.
In his words, no state other than Serbia has experienced at peace its “allies in the World War to take part in the territory and make pre-states without any reference to international law”.
Of course, unusual solutions are needed. Proposals for resolving the Kosovo issue launched by Dusan Batakovic, Dobrica Qosiq, Dejan Despiqa has been on the wheel of history. We need new solutions, which in themselves say what we can actually accomplish in Kosovo”, says Markovic, broadcasts Koha.net.
And that means, Markovic warns, that it is time for us to be honest with ourselves, so that that dialogue in our society is not reduced to phrases.
“Those that the priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church say about Kosovo are phrases. These proposals must be fair. The Japanese emperor once said very well that a moment comes when you endure the unbearable and suffer the untested. That's what he said after the fall of atomic bombs in Japan. So we must speak the truth aloud, whatever it may be, and for all opinion to be announced”, Markovic added.
For him, there is no dilemma that most Serbs would like to see a Kosovo without Albanians in the Serbian state.
We never knew what to do with Albanians. There is a large mass of people in Kosovo who hate our state, and this is due to that unresolved equation by all political elite”, he stresses, broadcast Koha.net.
Serbian historian thinks it would be good to go public with various proposals, which are neither patriotic phrases nor demogogic slogans.
