INSTAT published today that the number of deaths in 2016 in Albania is 21.388, resulting in a mortality rate of 74.3 per 10,000.
In the death toll during 2016, females account for 47.2% and men at 52.8%. Compared to 2015, the death toll has dropped by 4.6 %.
Natural deaths total 87.4% of the total in 2016, followed by deaths caused by 2.1% accidents and 1.1% suicides. In 2016, the native mortality cofficiency declined to 3.2 for 100,000 live births from 9.0 in 2015.
