Former Commander of the Drenica Operative Zone KLA, Sami Lushtaku, said in a statement for tonight KALLXO.com that his sentence was the unfair “”, while the prison was estimated to be “grave”.
My budget has been unfair and it has not been easy to stay in prison because our actions have been right”, he said, expressing conviction in his innocence.
Lushtak spoke of KALLXO.com shortly after giving a speech in Scytheright's main square before the mass of citizens who had come out to greet him, a few hours after the Supreme Court acquitted him of the charges that the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica in 2015 sentenced to 12 years in prison, while last year, the Court of Appeals cut that sentence to 7 years.
He was convicted after a college of international judges found him guilty of a 1998 murder, even though the name of the slain person was unknown.

Actually, Sami Lushtaku is the mayor of the Weekend municipality.
Despite the long shortage in the workplace, the municipality has not replaced it by being run by the deputy chairman at all times.
Lushtaku did not specify tonight if he intends to return to the office even if he will return to politics to compete again for mayor of this year's fall elections.
