Russian news agency noted that S-300 air rocket systems are capable of hitting superficial short- and medium-term ballistic missiles, navigation missiles, tactical and strategic aircraft, Periscope broadcast.
Buying the missile system has long been spoken in Serbia, but Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin recently said Serbia was interested in buying Tor and Buk air defence systems.
Rogozin was in Serbia last year, when he gave a prototype of this model of the S-300 missile system to former prime minister, now President Aleksandar Vuciq.
“We will give direct support to our allies in the Balkans, we will examine their request in the shortest term,” said Rogozin long ago, but buying this type of weapons for “Serbian Armed Forces” has not been officially spoken afterward.
S-300 has almost a mythic status among Serbs and is mentioned mostly as a weapon that would have changed the course of NATO's “bonds in 1999 if the Russians had given us at that time”. Also used often as an argument in discussions between the so-called “Rusofobs” and “Russofiles”.
S-300 is now partially outdated, as Russia has had the new S-400 generation available since 2007, and has recently announced the type of advanced S-500.
