Flag House
This is probably the only photo showing from across the house, where on November 28, 1912, Ismail Kemal declared independence. I've never seen another photograph of this house except for a sketch and a painting. If there really isn't a close picture, it's mysterious to me.
By the time independence was declared, this two-story historic building, called Saladah, part of the vast amount of Vlora, was owned by Jemil do Vlora, the grandson of Esat saw Toptan. It was 70m long, had a balcony in front, and the flag was erected on that balcony.
So much meaning does this house have in Albania's history that it is truly worth recreating in its former form, and that would cost far less than building a palace.
She was right next to where Ismail Kemal's grave today is with the statue of Flamurtar.
Behind it was haremble, a huge three - story building used for everyday life - living, cooking, raising children. There are some good pictures of the haremble, which is also the home where Ismail Kemal was born.
The three - story forgetfulness often, and for unintelligible and perhaps banal reasons, is confused with the two - story house where the flag was erected, even though Eqrem Vlora, one of the early descendants of Saraja, has published a rare sketch and notes that explain everything well and beautifully.
