Ukraine's president, Petro Poroshenko, said his country did not target the membership of “immediately” in NATO, but will initially focus on implementing reforms.
Speaking in Kiev, after meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, he said his government would build a real reform programme to meet the requirements for NATO membership.
Stoltenberg, on the other hand, voiced NATO support for Ukraine and called for full implementation of Minsk's agreements, planning the end of the conflict between government forces and pro-Russian separatists east of Ukraine.
He also confirmed that NATO member states do not recognise the annexation of the Ukrainian Crime region from Russia in 2014. /Periscopi/
