The crash occurred at LeFlore County, about 60 miles [100 km] north of Jackson, the capital of state, reports American media.
The 16 victims were on the Navy Corps plane, and there are no survivors, Leflower Emergency Management Director Fred Randle said.
The governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, said the incident was a “terage”.
“Burrat and our women in uniform are threatened every day to secure our freedom”, he said.
There are no official details of the crash.
