Mead growers to bankruptcy

Due to the sudden change in prices on the international stock exchange, thousands of tons of raspberries have been blocked through collection points in Kosovo. If the state doesn't intervene, this agricultural culture is at risk of extinction this year.

According to growers and those who collect the raspberry, prices on the international stock market have dropped greatly, unable to export the product to raspberry processing companies.

The price for a kilogram of raspberries from 1 euro 80 cents last year has been collected for this year at raspberry growers for 80 cents. But there have been times when raisins have accumulated 40 cents per kilogram.

This situation has caused great dissatisfaction with raspberry growers. They blame the collection points for taking the raspberry at a very cheap price until the latter blames it at the international stock exchange.

The only one here who hasn't intervened yet is the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to Vicar Aliu, manager at the company “Besiana G”, which collects the radiation in this region if there is no state intervention, then all collected goods are threatened.

For now, this company has 150 tons of stock stock. Aliu says that the price of raspberry in the stock market primarily costs Poland, since it is among the biggest exporters on the European market.

This country, but also Germany, have entered the market at cheap prices, damaging small countries like Kosovo that have only 1,000 hectares planted in this agricultural culture.

This company this year has collected the raspberry by 80 cents, but in cases even 1 euro per kilogram, unlike last year when the price per kilogram has been 1 euro and 80 cents.

However, the Word newspaper has provided bills from a number of growers that in one case, this company has received their milk at a price of 40 cents per kilogram.

Aliu explains this with the fact that this happened only on one occasion and he felt that the farmer had the raspberries.

This only happened on one occasion. The farmer had the raspberries damaged to not say completely damaged. We took it at this price so we wouldn't leave it without anything. The official price is 80 cents and 1 euro per kilogram”, Ali explained.

It shows that some meetings with the Agriculture Minister have been at the problem, but there is nothing concrete yet.

There have been problems with the other collection company “Agriproduct Commonce” from Podujevo. Its owner, Avni Shabani, tells Gazeta Word that the decline of the price in the international bell for raspberries has completely disturbed the market in Kosovo.

This year because of these problems, we receive the age at the price of 1 euro per kilogram”, Shaban said.

Shaban has admitted that the situation is so bad that he is unable to perform his duty either to the growers of the raisins. Tens of farmers have complained in the Word Journal that collection companies are not paying them.

It's true we have payment problems as we have many challenges. There are the challenges of processing, finding the market, non-combat competition from Serbia and Poland”, Shabani has said.

However, Shaban says this year, according to all odds, I will be able to export something. Much of the amount of raspberry is contracted. But compared to last year, this is much less.

“800 tons we exported last year, for this year we have only 1500 tonnes contracted”, Shaban says.

The raspberry growers are not at all satisfied with the prices, some even say they will no longer cultivate this culture at this price. They accuse the head of the collection point, Avni Shaban, of not paying them time and of not giving them last year's money.

Bajrami, a grower from the Podujevo municipality, says last year there were 70 raisins of raisins and that the initial price was 1 euro and 75 cents, but was later lowered by 45 cents.

The price has started 1.75 cents, but has fallen per day, up to 1.30 cents”, Bajrami said of the Word Gazette.

Bajrami says he has been starting with raspberry sales for a week, but has not yet received half of last year's sale money.

I started a week of sales and started at 1 euro. Once again, it's safe to drop 0.080 after a time that they do so every year. The needle didn't even give us half the money last year”.

He says he is very unhappy with this award and that he will not take a second to cultivate this culture.

Arlind Haxhiu, from the same municipality, has 70 raspberry bears planted and says he has received support from the ministry for this area.

But even Haxhiu says that the price is not enjoyable, especially for those who have hired workers.
