Kadri Wessel will not have the support of the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo with partner parties in the coalition, in the event he run for the post of speaker of the Parliament. Kosovo Assembly Chairman Kadri Veselin, who is also head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, is considered unacceptable to this post by the Vetevendosje Movement and the LDK.
The election of the Speaker of the Parliament is necessary for the continuation of other Assembly Constitution procedures and for the beginning of the phase for forming the new government.
In order for the process of forming institutions not to be blocked, as solution, Vetevendosje and LDK offer the coalition PAN, including the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Initiative to propose another candidate for the Parliament's chairman.
Glauk Konjufca from the Vetevendosje Movement says Kadri Wessel will fail if he run for lack of votes.
The Vetevendosje Movement will vote against Kadri Veselin for chairman of the Parliament, but we are willing to consider other names that could be proposed”, says Konjufca.
If the Parliament Speaker's election fails, the procedure remains until any political agreement is reached. For his election, the simple majority of 61 votes are needed, but which coalition PAN has so far not proven to have them.
Analyst from the Kosovo Democratic Institute Albert Krasniqi says this node, if created, should be resolved, because it cannot be continued with other procedures.
“If this candidate doesn't get enough votes, so 61 and more votes, then he can't proceed further, he needs to stop the hearing, see if compromises can be reached between political subjects or prove to another candidate, who would be more acceptable to most deputies”, Krasniqi explains.
Democratic Party of Kosovo, as largest subject under coalition PAN, says he still does not appoint the candidate for chairman of the Assembly. But, according to PDK deputy chairman Enver Hoxhaj, he may be the party's leader, Kadri Wessel.
It is the right of the opposition to say they vote or not to vote, but Mr. Wessel has the backing of PDK and coalition partners. I believe that Mr. Wessel will utter the final word” himself, Hoxhaj said.
While for the Speaker of the Parliament, Vetevendosje and LDK say they can show flexibility if Veselin does not run, they rule out the possibility of supporting any coalition candidate for prime minister.
LDK elected MP Vjosa Osmani says government should form Vetevendosje and LDK, since the coalition PAN, according to her, fails in the first attempt.
“has good will on both sides to reach a co-governance agreement, assuming that the coalition The PAN will fail to have the necessary numbers for forming the government and we believe that they will fail, and secondly, we have a mission that unites us, so that the PDK will leave it in opposition”, Osmani said.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has called the Constitutional Assembly session for August 3rd. There, MPs are expected to swear and elect the chairman and five vice-presidents of this institution.
From the moment of the constitution, the 15-day period for the formation of the new government follows./rel/
