EU employment, here's how Macedonian Albanians cheat

A 40-year-old from Macedonia has been arrested by Tirana's Economic Antiquity, after allegedly cheating some persons for seasonal employment in various European Union countries, writes “Panorama”.

The detainee is Irfan Ahmeti, 40, from Macedonia and resident in the capital. Official State Police sources said he has been cuffed on charges of fraud, as he has so far been denounced by 3 young people from Tirana.

The investigation has shown that this person promised youth seasonal employment, mainly in Belgium, Germany, etc., against a fee amounting to 2 thousand euros. But after the injured traveled to these countries at their own expense, having made the payment demanded by the Macedonian citizen, they faced fraud because the 40-year-old no longer responded to their calls.

Sources said there may be other persons who may have been deceived in this way by the citizen arrested this reason police call on the injured to appear to make a statement near Tirana's Economic Anti-Faking Office.

“Experts in the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation section have made it possible for citizens Irfan Ahmeti, 40, to be inhabited in Macedonia. Its ban was made after this citizen has promised different seasonal jobs abroad to citizens by receiving a considerable amount of money”, police said yesterday officially. While sources said Ahmeti has been prosecuted even before, namely last year, for cigarette smuggling.

In February of last year, 40-year-old Irfan Ahmeti was arrested at the Durres Port during the operation, codenamed “Eclipsis”, after two others were caught with 550 thousand packs of cigarettes suspected of smuggling into Slovakia. Ahmeti was detained along with his sister, Djujten Samin, 52, born in Turkey and residential in Macedonia and Ilir Dengu, 53, resident in Tirana.

All three were arrested after they were caught in smuggled cigarettes, whose market value was estimated at up to 154 million dollars. But a few days after the arrest of the Durres Court has released the three indictees, changing security measures to the obligation to submit twice a month.

Irfan Ahmeti was released after paying off the property guarantee of 10,000 euros. On the other hand, Slovak customs authorities have claimed that the company, which had ordered and bought cigarettes in Montenegro, did not figure registered in their own customs. This company was not entitled to tobacco products.

In response to Slovak authority, the Durres Prosecution stated that even the stamp with the inscription “The Slovak Finance Ministry” in the document allegedly issued by Slovak Customs accompanying smuggled cigarettes was forged. /Panorama/
