Delawi: Government formed sooner

US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawi, in an interview for local Serbian television from Shtrpce, TV Herzegovina, has urged Kosovo politics to act quickly to move forward, because according to him, the world does not have time to wait, including the fastest formation of institutions released from [...]
Delawie in this interview has cited making 61 votes for forming the government, implying, not at all costs it should be the government of the Albanian majority.
“The people that should form the next government are the ones voters have chosen. Those who are elected by voters should make that decision, not me, not Quint, not any foreigners. Kosovo citizens voted for MPs. The Electoral Commission has certified the results, so we know who those MPs will be, and they have to work to identify a government that can reach 61 votes in the Kong”.
It is not up to me to tell who should be in that government; it is not up to any stranger to say who should be in that government. It is up to Kosovo citizens to say this through their elected representatives”.
In return, in terms of the US, Delawi has said he will work with any government that comes in line with the rules and laws of the Constitution of Kosovo, in accordance with Kosovo laws.
“With every government ready to try to achieve progress on the issues facing Kosovo today. These are the issues I mentioned earlier: rule of law, economic development and regional security. We look forward to working with politicians, with the government, which will work to resolve the problems Kosovo citizens face today”.
On the other hand, the US ambassador has warned that the world will not stand by looking at and waiting for Kosovo to find choice.
“Bota is moving and Kosovo has to move, too. It is at the turning point because I think it now has the chance, which maybe won't in the future, to make decisions that will firmly put it on the European road so that it becomes European as any other country and that Kosovar citizens, out of any other group, enjoy the benefits of living in a European state.
There is the danger that Kosovo will not make these decisions right, and for that reason I have stressed the question of the turning point. It is very important that all citizens of Kosovo and politicians who were elected last month make the right decisions so that Kosovo can progress so that its citizens enjoy the full rights that democracy gives them, as well as their constitution. Citizens can use economic growth to improve their living”, Delawie said.
Asked how much money the US state has invested in Kosovo Serbs, Delawi, has said that since 1999, about $1.8 billion has been invested, but he does not know exactly how much of this has gone to Serbs, because according to him, they do not hold investment notes according to ethnic groups.
