Former U.S. Central Intelligence Agency head (CIA) John Brenan criticised US President Donald Trump's account, saying his administration has pushed the country into crisis, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
Brenan, along with former National Intelligence Director James Klapper, attended the Security Forum in the city of Aspen, in Colorado state.
Brenan commented on investigations into Russia's involvement in presidential elections in the country, and said the Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller's election is the right choice for the investigation.
He stressed that Mueller should reject any unconstitutional request of Trump, while in terms of allegations that the prosecutor could be changed, Brenan said:
If Trump changes Mueller, I hope the members of Congress will say enough, and it will cease to present various reasons and reasonings which openly violate our laws and the state system”.
He added that if the administration has nothing to hide, then the investigation regarding Russia should be completed as soon as possible, while the demands for Mueller's dismissal must also condemn officials.
The former CIA chief further stresses that “Trump with his actions has pushed the country into crisis”, adding that it is shameful that Trump underestimates the intelligence agency's assessments concerning Russia.
I don't understand how Trump thinks with such politics to make US a safer place. I speak frankly, there is a clear concern that there is a great difference between truth and what Trump” said. / REL
