This soldier, who was arrested three days ago, appeared in a federal court yesterday on charges that some people, considered to be linked to the Islamic State, had been given military documents.
It is reported that the accused Kang, as well, has acknowledged that he has expressed loyalty to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
He is also accused of preparing student combat videos that he believed could be used by IS fighters against United States troops and their allies.
Private Kang is a war veteran in Iraq and Afghanistan.
His lawyer, appointed by the tribunal, said his client could suffer from a psychic illness related to his combat service.
Private Ichaika Kang had joined American forces in December 2001, a few months after the 11 September terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
