“Rakes were released at 11:41 (15:41 GMT) from Mupyongni, near the Chinese border and flew about 10,000 miles before they fell to the Sea of Japan”, announced Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis.
The North Bay later confirmed the launch of the missile, saying the missile had flown for 47 minutes and had reached an altitude of more than 700 kilometers [3700 km]”, according to official South Korean news agency Yonhap.
If these figures are correct, the flight of the missile according to a standard trajectory would cover a radius of 10 400 km”, according to David Wright, co-director of the USDP Global Security Programme and an expert on gun control.
His calculations showed that “Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago are fully within missile range and that Boston and New York can be risked to be inside of it”, Wright wrote on his blog.
The establishment of missiles according to a growing trajector allows cenyan not to fly over Japanese territory.
