They come at night, wake them up and put them on a plane. Special police and foreign authorities have expelled 22 thousand Albanian asylum seekers from Germany during 2016.
So begins the documentary “Deportation Class”, German production that has devoted an hour and 30 minutes to the history of the expulsion of Albanians from Germany.
“Deportation Class” focuses on the way asylum seekers from Germany have been expelled through a detailed plan: from planning collective deportation, arrival in their homes to coming to the country of origin, Albania.
The two German directors, Carsten Rau and Hauke Wendler, have closely followed the collective deportation that has been made to Albanians in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Even earlier, they have been sensitive to this phenomenon after two years ago documented in their film “Wilkommen auf Deutsch” how Germany reacted to the newcomers.
In “Deportation Class”, they describe the feelings and thoughts of returnees by showing them as people with dignity.
The documentary was shown at the Munich Festival in May, where it was praised by criticism.
