Mario is an Albanian doctor in America. He thinks it's time we did it for each other more than ever. Albanian for Albanian. Every year he comes home and visits people for free, becoming a concrete example of what he says.
Mario Ademiy is not a rock star, although he likes to sing from time to time, as he did this summer when he experienced the groom's emotions. He's a doctor in life. His passion is charity.
Mario and his wife have come from distant California, where they live, to celebrate love in the country of origin, in Albania, at their roots.
After the wedding, tradition wants the couple to go on honeymoon, but it has priorities. Before the honeymoon, Mario will perform the annual ritual during one day, he must offer residents of a free town visit and medicine.
I had medical school in America and thought I had to do something for my country. ” says Mario.
Two years ago, along with several volunteer doctors from the United States and Albania offered service to Pogradec residents.
There were 2000 patients who had not seen doctors with eyes in the last five years, mostly for financial reasons”.
This time he chose Shkodra and was able to inspire new volunteers.
I heard about the association on social networks. I like volunteer work. It was also new to the city of Shkodra, since such things are not often done. This is a very good experience for me”, says a volunteer doctor who has joined Mario's initiative.
A dentist who has offered her clinic's environment for medical visits responded to this initiative.
And it was a pleasure to offer this environment. Volunteerism in Shkodra is not widespread. Mario is one of the few cases.
Mario left Albania at an early age. He never dreamed he'd study medicine in America one day. He made the election prompted by his father's serious semuda, out of his own need, not only for medical help but above all human. Father, unfortunately, failed to keep her in life, but he vowed to do everything for others.
For him, medicine is largely humanism and since school years shaped the idea of a free clinic in service of fellow countrymen.
Today, this idea is concrete in an organization called “The international medical team for Albania”, which is assisted by various Albanian families.
We have an extraordinary Albanian-American community in the US. In various countries since Michigan, Wisconsin, California, Chicago.
Families that support us in America are not wealthy families, they don't have money, but they highly appreciate the serious health situation in Albania. The funds they give us go for medicine. The minimum people deserve here is health”, says Marjo.
Mario's plan is to one day, his free clinic, extend to all the trains, where there are Albanians.
