Under the implementation of the farmers' Certificate Project with the Global Gap Standard, which is implemented under the collaboration between the Podujevo municipality and USAID, today in Podujevo has started distributing the necessary equipment for the certificate with this standard.
Distribution of equipment for raspberry farmers has made Podujevo municipality chairman Agim Veliu and the director of the New Agriculture Initiatives (AGRO) USAID, Mark Wood.
In this case, Mayor Veliu has praised the partnership with USAID in the production programme, which has made Kosovo's referenced Podujevo a centre for cultivating this culture of its own orchard.
Mayor Veliu also talked about the importance of the farmers' Certificate project with Global Gap certificates.
The best thing about this project is that raspberry growers, after equipment with the Global GAP certificate, will have another advantage in the plastic of their product at the most convenient price. This certificate also eliminates doubts that products can be carcinogenic. Certification also encourages farmers to continue dealing with this profitable” event, Chairman Veliu said.
USAID Programme Director Mark Wood highly praised the realisation of the farmers' Certificate project with Global Gap.
I am happy for our co-operation, because this excellent co-operation has enabled the farmers of the Podujevo municipality to be the first not only in Kosovo, but also in the region and wider that are being certified with the Global Gap Standard. I hope other municipalities follow the example of the Podujevo municipality”, Wood said.
According to a communique of the Podujevo municipality, the farmers' Certificate project with the Global Gap Standard, worth 120 thousand euros, is realised in partnership with the Podujevo municipality with USAID. Benefiters of this project will be 523 farmers who have previously attended certificate training with the Global Gap Standard
