27 years ago, on July 13th 1990, about 5,000 Albanians began the first Western exchange after they raided Western embassies in Tirana earlier that month, desperate to flee from the brutal communist regime.
The events of that month not only the comrade establiment but marked the beginning of what became a continuous ecstasy since then, while many Albanians continue to be looking for a better life.
These pictures were fired by Lothar Parzeller, a German diplomat working at the Tirana Embassy at the time.
