The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained seven people suspected of being members of a terrorist group linked to the Islamic State, agency “reported. The attacks were planned to include “suicide bombs and the killing of civilians with improvised explosive devises in places where mass gatherings (4)x1> are held, the FSBCE statement said.
Members of the group were arrested overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, the FSB reported. During the raid, law enforcement agents confiscated “a large quantity of explosive materials, IED elements, automatic weapons, ammunition and extremist literature. ”

The statement stressed that the group was co-ordinating its plans with ISovina organisers via an internet channel, reports “RT” Transmission Periscope.
Earlier this week, FSB head Aleksandar Bortnikov announced he had uncovered a terrorist plot that would include bombings during New Year's holiday and the upcoming presidential election campaign. The schemes also included another group linked to the ISU.
St Petersburg was the scene of the most recent terrorist attack in Russia. A suicide bomber exploded in April on a subway train after traveling between two stations. Six people were killed in the attack, and eight of them suffered serious injuries./Periscopi/
