He was sentenced to eight years in prison and forced labour, though Uljukayev continues to claim he is innocent.
This process has kept all Russian media on alert, especially after the former minister was arrested at the entrance of the <x0->Rosneft” and was found with a bag full of money.
Sekini, a very trusted person of Putin, with a past in the secret services (FSB) and according to many sources leading the guilty faction (a conservative direction within Putin's party) has accused Uljukayev of receiving the money as a reward for the approval he had given for buying “Banneft”, oil companies that were at the time in Seku's expansionist goals.
On the other hand, Uljukayev, who is a member of the opposing grouping, liberal pigeons, has always denied this, defining his arrest as a provocation orchestrated by Saki and stressed that he did not know there was money in his bag, thinking it was a gift of wine and sausage for Christmas.
Sekin, despite being called to testify as the chief accuser, has never appeared in court for questioning, and the court has worked only with the deposit he had made in the initial phase.
