Before addressing the Parliament, Lulzim Basha gathered the Democrat parliamentary group. The meeting ended shortly before 10:00, and the leader of the DP and opposition deputies left for the Assembly. The meeting has aimed at co-ordinating between MPs at the session and protesters abroad.
Lulzim Basha called for the removal of the agenda of the election of chief interim prosecutor.
“Today it is one of the most serious days for democracy, harder for citizens who want a democratic country where law and Constitution are respected. Today in flagrant violation of the constitution, the parliamentary majority seeks to assume a power that does not belong to them. It's an unconstitutional session, today you're sneaking up for a coup”, Basha said.
Meanwhile, numerous police forces have been deployed before the Assembly to avoid possible incidents.
The majority has warned the vote of three names for the post of interim chief prosecutor. The candidates are Ferdinand Elez, Arta Marku and Ermira Tarfin, the only ones who under the Law Commission met the criteria by the 7 original candidates. /Top Channel/
