The world economy has grown by 3 percent since 2011, the United Nations estimated.
In the annual report on global growth, the UN said overall economic growth has continued to be promoted by China and other Asian countries, but continued improvement in Russia, Brazil, Argentina and other developing countries has also affected positively, reports Rel.
Liu Zhenim, UN Undersecretary for Economic and Social Affairs, said growth “is a sign of welcome for a healthier economy”.
But, he also warned that growth could come at an environmental cost, “necessarily in increasing greenhouse gas emissions”.
Despite improved short-term prospects, the global economy continues to face long-term challenges, including trade policy changes and growing geopolitical tensions, the report said.
