The creation of monopoly in car counterparts is a decision by the Government of Kosovo, which according to the GAP Institute has damaged competition, bypassed the Kosovo Assembly and favoured only one category of private businesses at the expense of citizens' overall interest.
According to a report compiled by the Institute for Advanced Studies GAP, besides monopolys in counterpart, MTPT through administrative instruction no. 2008/08 for autologisation has created several illegal situations as well.
The price of car counterparts in Kosovo, according to the GAP Institute report, is more expensive than in the powerful economic states in Europe -- both Finland and Great Britain.
