The town of Berat continues to be the tourist's favourite destination, where during the January-November period it has been visited by 40, 605 local and foreign.
Even in the autumn season and the beginning of the winter season, the 2400 - year - old city of Berat, known not only for its rare beauty but also for its hospitality, has awakened the interest of numerous tourists who have visited it.
“Although we are at the beginning of the winter tourist season, in November, the Onufri Ikonographic Museum and the Ethnographic Museum continue to be the destination of local and foreign visitors, especially on weekends and holidays by family visitors”, confirms the National Museum Centre in Berat.
According to the QKM, this month the museums had 1782 visitors from 1033 visitors, who had been in the same month last year.
While in January, November 2017, the number of visitors reached 40 605, an impressive figure since in the same period last year there were only 28 433 visitors, realise 6 928 280 dollars in ticket sales, $192,960 more from the same period last year”, the QKM found.
The urban centre of Berat reflects the effects of the tradition of Balkan popular dwellings, which dates mainly to the 18th and 19th centuries C.E. This tradition has been adapted to adapt to the city's way of life, with homes placed on slopes with mainly horizontal layouts and widely used natural light.
In 1961 Berat was officially declared a museum city. Today Berat inherits 210 museum objects, of which 150 are objects on foot. Of them 60 are monuments of the first category and others of the second category.
