The European Union seeks to show that it is caring for the Balkans”, the editorial says.
” Juncker and European Parliament President Antonio Taani are expected to visit the region early next year”, according to the two leaders' voices.
Meanwhile, Bulgaria has also declared it wants to help the Western Balkans during the time it takes over the rotating EU presidency in early January.
Samantha Yanina, Albania's ambassador to the European Union, says Juncker's signal to the region was highly praised.
The European Commission is getting ready to recommend the start of membership talks with Albania, and possibly with Macedonia in the first half of the year”, the editorial stresses.
European leaders, who favour enlargement, argue that the introduction of Balkan countries would be in the bloc's own interest.
All six Balkan countries are surrounded by EU members in the north, west and east.
