Preparations begin for marking 10th anniversary of independence

Organisations have started to manifest the 10th anniversary of independence, the jubilee year of the Republic of Kosovo.

In contrast to last year, where the Independence anniversary of the Republic of Kosovo was celebrated coldly, this year under the auspices of the president of the Republic of Kosovo, this first jubilee of Kosovo's independence is expected to have a greater holiday.

The country's president, Hashim Thaci, has already signed the decision to appoint the Organising Council for marking the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's February 17th 2008 declaration of independence February 17th 2018.

This organisational council, which is headed by the presidency, is also composed of the Office of the Speaker of the Parliament, the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, and the State Protocol. Presidency officials for Kosovo Press show that they have already opened the public competition for logos and the slogan under which every manifestive event will be organised for this jubilee year of independence.

Ardian Arifaj, adviser to President Thaci, who is also the leader of the Organising Council, says they are now in the first beginnings of organisation and manifestation will be expanded in Kosovo municipalities, thus making every day throughout February to have events with which the 10th anniversary of independence will be marked.

We are currently in the first starts of the organisation and we are discussing with all parties involved in programmes that will be organised throughout this month of independence, including on February 17th, which will have a special programme. It takes time and we haven't yet concreteized it, but initially, since the public competition has opened, we appeal to all creators to apply with their ideas, their designs, their logo, and the jubilee version of independence”, Arifay said.

According to him, this year of independence is very special for the state of Kosovo, and institutions will do their best to have as good representation and promotion as possible outside Kosovo.

“Forcing state identity within and strengthening state subjectivity abroad will be the focus of any organisation. On the other hand, many guests, international figures who contributed to Kosovo's independence, namely international independence protagonists”, have said.

The KP learns that contests in various sports disciplines and numerous cultural events are expected to be organised for the 10th anniversary of independence, until the invitation is extended to Kosovo stars that have famous in the world to be present in Kosovo for the jubilee year of independence.
