Last night, the first debate took place between two candidates for Pristina chairman Shpend Ahmeti and Arban Abrashi. According to the moderator, this debate reached a record of viewing on Kosovo televisions.
All this vision is very disturbing. Pristina is a small town whose problems can be known by each citizen through a one-day commitment. He knows what has been done, and what can be done. It would not be necessary for him to hear such things dozens of times from the Canadians themselves. This outlook has shown the great need for citizens to explain and interpret things. And pre-election debates do this: they offer two different interpretations for undefined citizens who do not want to tire out their minds.
And at this point, it is clear that they were disappointed by LDK candidate Arba Abashi. His words were unclear. The numbers differed, not from a sharp, provable arithmetic, but from a desire that implied that Abrashi was not prepared. And this non-preparation was probably the result of the small expectations he had to go to a run-off or waiting to win over Shpend. Furthermore, his most tense attitude reminded Isa Mustaf, who not only offered the feeling that he was peaceful for citizens but also peaceful and foreign for the problems facing Pristina citizens. On the other hand, Shpend's attitude was much more flexible. His words were more natural and therefore more fluent, giving the impression that he was more familiar with the problems facing Pristina and thus, even more capable of resolving and even more accessible to citizens themselves.
Abrashi's criticism of current government was disorganized and weak. As was the defense of the municipality of Isa Mustaf. He could not reveal any serious and systematic defects of governance in Pristina by cutting off his attacks. He accused Ahmeti of continuing to reason for failing to do things. But this also was left to him in half, because he didn't take away such reasonings. And for reasoning itself, a sound mind does not believe that it is in itself a mistake. Citizens know that much Shpend says is true because there was a huge media coverage on these issues. For example, Hoti and the delay in signing buses. Prime Minister Mustafa and non-procedure of the Law on Pristina. Etj.
What would Arba Abrashi do in this direction to convince a government [current government Haradinaj] that does not share his party's coalition? The answer is missing.
Meanwhile, the Shpend was quite systematic in all that he said. Well prepared throughout the debate. Citizens, suppose, may not believe in such an approach. They may think that Pristina would develop more rapidly economically without a bureaucratic austerity approach. And with a strong will for big investments in big projects. Things Ahmeti has not expressed confidence in. Despite these different ideological beliefs, however, these citizens too will be greatly disappointed by the lack of argument for the 1.2 billion promised by Abrashi that they will be invested for the next four years.
Of course, citizens need, not a good debater, but a good chairman. Yet, the debate reveals much of how candidates will work. No penalty of any kind of policy that Isa Mustafa undertook in Pristina in his six-year rule, when he was convicted of civic voting in 2013, represents Abrasin very badly. Not as a new politician, with new access, and new opportunities. But as a politician representing the new one only in appearance, just the old thinking and former people who led Pristina.
The general reaction of people on social networks was that Shpend Ahmeti defeated Arba Abush. Such a thing is highly defined. But there may be a misunderstanding here. That's because Arban actually had a very difficult task, since he had to protect a municipal government like that of Mustaf, which deserves no protection. And since his governing plan depends on the same people. And while Shpendy had something to protect him from.
