Two former American intelligence chiefs said Donald Trump posed a danger to the United States because he is vulnerable to Russian game, as the president declared Saturday he believes in denying intervention in American elections by Vladimir Putin.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Klapper, and former CIA Director John Brenan published a sharp criticism of Trump after the president named them both as political amateurs for supporting consensus among intelligence agencies that Russia intervened in the American elections.
He named us political amateurs because he was trying to delegate Intelligence assessment. By not facing the issue and not telling Putin that we know he is responsible, he forgave him. This tells Putin that Donald Trump can be deceived by foreign leaders, who appeal to his ego and play with his uncertainties, something very disturbing from the national security point of view”, said former CIA director Brenan.
Trump himself proved quite contradictory in his comments after saying he trusts Putin, and then supports American Intelligence agencies. This, according to James Clark, shows weakness in front of the leaders of rival powers.
I think Trump is very much affected when they take out the red carpet and pay him similar honors. This attracts him, but points to his uncertainties. I think the Chinese and Russians can dump Trump”, said former head of National Intelligence, Klapper. Administration officials “Trump” named these ridiculous criticisms and said no one is throwing them at the American president.
