Lancaster made these comments after his visit to the KSF Ministry, where he was with the delegation of the United Kingdom Armed Forces Ministry.
Lancaster said the United Kingdom will continue supporting Kosovo as an old and dedicated partner in this respect.
The United Kingdom has been an old and dedicated partner to Kosovo, and I am very impressed that I have returned here and see the progress being made and not only within this nation but also within the KSF. I am just as proud that we have signed the memorandum of understanding, which we continue to support. This is a support that we are committed to continue in the future. NATO is the cornerstone of the United Kingdom protection, so we have a common interest in promoting regional security here and that's why I am very pleased to be here today and underline our continued support for Kosovo”, he said, broadcast kp.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Security Forces Minister Rrustem Berisha said the United Kingdom has helped Kosovo freedom, independence and is continuing to support the state's construction and strengthening.
While adding that the signing of the Memorandum of Co-operation between the Ministry of Defence and Security has made excellent co-operation between the two sides, especially in the area of security, in educating KSF members, schooling and various training.
With particular focus we talked about the process of transforming the Security Forces into the Armed Forces that we actually asked for the support of the United Kingdom to continue supporting us in this direction, because we think that with the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into the Kosovo Army, or the Armed Forces round up our citizenship. We announced that we are making continued efforts to make this happen with constitutional changes because the parliamentary change vote will be easier if even the non-most community, in this case the Serb community, will vote on constitutional change, but even the path of NATO integration will be much easier for the Security Force”, he said.
Berisha expressed gratitude to the contribution of Minister Lancaster and the United Kingdom for doing for Kosovo and the Ministry of Security Force.
Otherwise, Minister Lancester is found in Kosovo after 18 years, where he had served as a KFOR soldier, while he said he was honoured to see progress Kosovo has achieved for 18 years.
It during the day has met with President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
