Despite having no criminal records and a pending motion to stand by the Federal Court of Appeals, immigration authorities ordered her deportation, cutting off an airplane ticket in Detroit Metro Airport, broadcast albinfo.ch.
She had stayed and worked for 30 years in the United States, where she was born and raised three children, worked and paid taxes for the State.
“This is a good example of absurd deportations that we are looking at”, said her lawyer, Carrie Pastor. “She has no criminal record... she was denied asylum many years ago. Her case is currently pending before the US Court of Appeal for District Six. No decision has been made... She's been sent to a place she hasn't seen for 30 years...”, he added.
ICE agents at the airport said the woman would be re-stopped to enter the United States for 10 years, but added that the family can make a request.
