Spain is grateful to Serbia for failing to submit the letter to the European Commission for its stance that the cases of Kosovo and Catalonia cannot be compared.

So said Spanish Ambassador to Belgrade Miguel Fourtets Suares for today's number of the newspaper “Politika”, broadcasts Klan Kosova.

“Spain is grateful to the Government of Serbia that at the moment it has not raised this issue, as President Aleksandar Vuciq” has already explained, the Spanish ambassador said, broadcasts Klan Kosova.

Official Belgrade resigned days ago from sending this letter at Spain's request with the reasoning that the situation not deteriorate in the country.

Serbia had planned that through letter it called on 22 members of the European Union to reconsider the decision to recognise Kosovo's independence with the argument that Catalonia is a clear example of this error.
