The renowned British journalist and good connoisseur of the Balkan circumstances, Misa Glenny, has said Serbia, prior to membership in the European Union, will agree to unequivocally recognise Kosovo's independence, broadcast Koha.net.
Glenny, in a conversation to Belgrade's “” newspaper about why Western countries when it comes to Serbia's EU membership, the question of Belgrade and Pristina dialogue is more important than the rights of Serbs and Albanians has responded:
“If you think of the rights of Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo, then this EU issue would solve with Kosovo's elected representatives because of the dominant position in the EU (or in Germany and France) for Kosovo to be treated separately. In that sense, what is happening in Kosovo has no direct effect on the EU's position on Serbia. Nevertheless, it is very clear that Germany, with the majority backing in the European Union, has decided that Serbia will be forced to comply with the recognition of Kosovo with little independent state before it is admitted to the European Union”
