Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj said the country is entering with a new phase and approach to its development.
According to him, the Kosovo government has major priorities, among them strengthening local production as a precondition for increasing the number of employment and raising the welfare of citizens, which also has an impact on economic development.
Those comments, Deputy Prime Minister Limaj, told the “local productions at the interior trade supermarket-region” organised by the Kosovo Producers Club.
In this case Limaj said the government would be a business partner for strengthening their economy.
However, he still has work to do to eliminate all business obstacles.
The priorities, according to him, are local production. The measures taken by the government are a priority for businesses that have removed customs duties for raw materials.
This wild market will be fixed by protecting the country's interests. Without any dilemma is respect for free trade, but of course there are rules that must be legally observed. It is disturbing that 90 per cent of our markets are packed with imported goods, while only 10 per cent with local products”, Limaj said.
This situation must be changed for the benefit of our country.
This 90-to 10 practice will be abolished, legally by MTI to enable the country and the youth”, he said.
Limaj approved to treat producers equally. Defending the decision on measures taken against the Limaj flour industry, he said measures would be taken against other imported products as well.
Trade and Industry Minister Bajram Hasani stressed that all finds should be taken for the basis of a better domestic and foreign trade law.
“Priories have business empowerment and support from local producers. We've taken steps where we have access to the manufacturer's defense. There must be an investigation into market regulation, but always according to the facts. We as MTI have made a strategy in which they are designed to remove barriers and create facilities for business”, Hasani said.
According to the world ranking, today it becomes public that Kosovo ranks 61st, and according to Hasani it is good news.
Astrit Panja executive director at the Producers Club said this is one of many activities that the Club is organising. According to him, one of the results of the Riinvest Institute is of concern to the large number of imported products.
“In Kosovo needs to fix the market, it is not required to close the import, but to have an equal market in Kosovo. There are enough high quality products in Kosovo, where local producers face non-tarifort barriers and have problems being competitive even on the regional market”, Panja stressed.
Sunez Gashi from the Riinvest Institute has presented the study recommendations report “relations between local producers and retail retailers”. In this study, she has mentioned that there are trade irregularities and problems facing local producers.
