Kosovo, Britain sign memorandum for recruiting high positions

The media report shows that the aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to, in accordance with legislation in force, support joint efforts to ensure empowerment, independence, meritocracy and professionalism in the process of recruiting top positions in civil service and public enterprise boards.
Following the signing of Memorandumi, Prime Minister Haradinaj and Ambassador O'Connell were proposed for the media present.
Prime Minister Haradinaj has pledged respect for the obligations issued by this memorandum and for continuing the good co-operation of the Government of Kosovo with the United Kingdom.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the United Kingdom, which aims to ensure a legal process, but also creditable to the recruiting of all persons who will take responsibility in agencies that are the competence of Government”, the prime minister has said in this case.
Prime Minister Haradinaj praised the role of experts coming from the United Kingdom who will be partners, believing that this significant process will be a process where the expertise and quality of those taking responsibility will be respected.
We will avoid the ongoing tendency of politicisation of boards and agencies”, the prime minister has said.
U.K. Ambassador Ruairi O'Connell, after signing the memorandum, has stressed that the phenomena of naming non-professional people who are not there to help the institution, but to advance the goals of their bosses, do not help Kosovo.
Last year, when this project was launched, practices that high positions were won without merit were challenged, and the willingness of Kosovo's decisionmakers was proved to promote the overall good.
The final appointment of persons in positions belongs to Kosovo and its elected, as an independent and sovereign state, in full compliance with the legislation in force. Therefore, the success of this project will be a success of the Government of Kosovo, and its failure as well as”, said Ambassador O'Connell.
