The European Union (BE) has defined demarcation with Montenegro as undisputed criteria for visa liberalisation with Kosovo, and this issue has no turning back. Thus has stated during an exclusive interview with the newspaper “Voice” European Integration Minister Gift Hoxha, adding that demarcation of the border between the two countries should end, as well as combat corruption to make the decision on abolishing visas.
She says there should be national consensus on this issue in Kosovo, which should exist despite party differences.
The European integration agenda and free movement of citizens must be priority and all have an internal consensus. Voice: Mrs. Hoxha, you have recently stayed in Brussels, where you have also met representatives of various European Union institutions. As you have announced, an integral part of the discussions has been Kosovo's European integration and visa liberalisation. What is the message Kosovo has received from EU institutions this time?
Hoxha: The European integration process remains one of the main foreign policy goals of the Republic of Kosovo. We as a country and as a society should have the main goal of continuing democratic consolidation, raising the level of rule of law, respecting human rights, and building a functional market economy for the only reason the country's quick integration towards the European family. European values consider ours and our journey not complete without joining the European family. The dynamics of implementing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, completion of the visa liberalisation process and enabling free travel for Kosovo citizens to the European Union all these major issues are related to our country's European agenda. Even at the first meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee, but at a meeting with members of the Workers Group for the Western Balkans Regiment within the Stabilisation and Association Committee in Brussels, Kosovo has received support for integration processes. It has also been made clear by relevant institutions that Kosovo must meet the conditions required for visa liberalisation, as well as more work must be done for implementing the SAA and the European Reforms Agency in particular.
