Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's statements, but also the prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, that they want direct involvement of the United States of America in dialogue in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia, have been seen with concern in Serbia.
That is because Serbs would not want on the table a party perceived to be in favour of Kosovo and Kosovars.
Serbia's Vecernje Novosti newspaper has made a topic about this issue and the possibility of Americans becoming a direct part of the table where the normalisation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels is discussed, Klan Kosova reports.
Asked about this issue from this newspaper, Maja Kocijanciq, the EU's senior representative spokeswoman, Federica Moghrini, has not answered directly in question, except that he has said that even in the past the EU has co-operated closely with the US.
“The EU works very closely with America about the Western Balkans. Work in dialogue to normalise relations between Belgrade and Pristina is in progress. Both sides have repeatedly confirmed their strong commitment to the continuation of talks and implementation of all agreements”, Kocijanciq has said.
According to her, the date for the upcoming summit has not yet been set, but “format and dialogue themes are determined by both sides”.
In Serbia, there are rumours that if the US were to get involved in the dialogue, then the same should happen to Russia and that state, Serbia's partner, the negotiating table.
