Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq said she understands the EU officials' response to General Vladimir Lazarevic's speech at the Military Academy, but, as she said, it would not be necessary to open a “the District” if everything is considered in the region.

This statement by the chief of the Serbian executive came after the European Union's warning that the appointment of a general who has been convicted of war crimes, as legalising a military academy, is against EU principles, where Serbia intends to membership.
EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijanciq said through a statement that the bloc expects the “political leaders to respect the victims of past conflicts and sincerely promote reconciliation in the Western Balkans”.
The political “Liders must guide all efforts to overcome the difficult legacy of the past and promote mutual trust, dialogue and tolerance”, Kocijanciq said, broadcast Klan Kosova.
Retired General Vldomir Lazarevic has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by the United Nations War Crimes Tribunal for atrocities committed by Serb troops in Kosovo during the 1998-99 war.
Lazarus was released in 2015 after serving two thirds of his sentence.
